Mosquita y Mari review

Posted : 12 years, 2 months ago on 31 January 2012 10:59 (A review of Mosquita y Mari)

Mosquita y Mari is a of a tender love between two young Chicanas that struggles to find its place in their lives and in today's world. Yolanda and Mari are growing up in Huntington Park, Los Angeles and have only known loyalty to one thing: family.
When Mari moves in across the street from Yolanda, they maintain their usual life routine, until an incident at school thrusts them into a friendship and into unknown territory. As their friendship grows, a yearning to explore their strange yet beautiful connection surfaces. Lost in their private world of unspoken affection, lingering gazes, and heart-felt confessions, Yolanda's grades begin to slip while Mari's focus drifts away from her duties at a new job.
Mounting pressures at home collide with their new-found desires thus driving Yolanda and Mari's relationship to the edge, forcing them to choose between their obligations to others and staying true to each other.

Lip Service review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 16 January 2012 04:37 (A review of Lip Service)

They are in their twenties, they are pretty like hearts, they multiply the adventures (and misadventures), but only among women. Four years after the success of the American lesbian series The L World, released in France on Canal +, the BBC has launched Lip Service, a six-part series with guns girls kissing (or more). It will follow the loves of three friends in Glasgow today, Frankie (Ruta Gedmintas), a sassy and cheeky photographer who refuses all ties, the former Cat (Laura Fraser), her ex who still in love with her, and Tess (Fiona Button ), the roommate of Cat specialist stories crock.

Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 10 January 2012 03:00 (A review of Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story)

Hebba is a young married and loving her partner. She has a great career. Her compagner is just about to be appointed as editor-in-chief of the greatest governmental newspaper. Hebba is the hostess of much appreciated TV programs about female victims, e.g. daughters who are buried alive because of improper behaviour, people drowning when attempting illegal immigration to Europe. Karim is told that he will only be appointed if his wife avoids political topics. So she changes her programs on ordinary people instead. But her "non-political" programs will become even more repugnant to the authorities.
